This was the mindeset I held for YEARS, and it's a mindset that held me back. It's what stopped me from creating a website already, and it's the main driver of my impostor syndrome.
But I've decided to start battling that syndrome, to pull a seat up to the table and tell my stories.
How did I begin to shake this thought distoriton about myself? A simple ask. I asked a local online newspaper if they would be interested in a bi-weekly column where I shared fiction installments.
I started out as a freelance reporter, but I was tired of writing someone else's story. I was tired of hustling to locations in between my regular 9 to 5 to put myself out of my comfort zone with interviews, only to then have to comb through my recorded session and pick out an article.
It was daunting, and I was tired, so I asked.
That's how Second Saturday Stories was born. I wrote my column for three years. It helped me mature as an author and evolve my story telling. It was a great place to test out ideas and nail down my voice.
Now that I've decided to move forward, I need a new site for Second Saturday Stories.
That's how markfrenchfiction.com was born. It's the next chapter, if you'll pardon the pun. I'm excited to continue offering quality horror shorts and promote my upcoming Noir horror Skeleton Unburdened.
I hope you will be here for the long haul. Welcome, let's get started!
